I attended the 2005 New York International Rally as a Ham Radio Volunteer.

We participate in events such as these to hone our communications skills for use in the event of an emergency.

Learning procedures for organized communications is important to avoid a confused mess during a disaster or other emergency.

As of 2005 I am new to Ham Radio, and have a lot to learn. 


We also have the chance to put our equipment to the test under conditions similar to those we will face in an emergency. 		  I found a few shortcomings in my equipment and, and have taken steps to correct them.
Our job at rallys is to keep track of what cars are where, so if one doesn't show up we know where to look.

In the event of a safetyproblem with race cars, spectators, or others, we relay the info to the proper authorities.


We assist at other events such as the Maine Forest Rally and the Mount Washington Vintage Automobile "Climb to the Clouds" Auto race.		 If you want to attend one of these events, watch the Calendar Section. I'll post info there as I get it.
