Tour De Rocks is perhaps the most competitive, gnarliest non rock buggy competition east of the Mississippi.
Competitors are challenged by many different trails through some of the worst mud, rocks and boulders around.
Each trail has a point value in relation to difficulty. Competitors are free to look at their map and decide which
to attempt.
Points are deducted from teams from each trail point total. Deductions are made for winching, using tools, hand
placing rocks and sticks, etc.
TDR is a bit of a challenge for spectators too. You can choose to follow the team of your choice to watch them
try each obstacle of their choice.
You can wait by the obstacle(s) of your choice to see different competitors attempt them. Either way you're scrambling
over a steep, nasty mountain.
Should you plan to attend... ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL is allowed during the event!
Your cooler, etc. is liable to be checked, perhaps by me, so please be good!
Should you wish to compete or want more info, click to: NEWJO.org,
which is the Northeast Willys Jeep Organization. It's a great group to join too... We don't mind if you have a
4X4 other than a Jeep.
NEWJO is a family type group with folks of all ages and backgrounds
as members. We all share a love of 4 wheeling and either antique vehicle restoration or newer vehicle modification.
The NEWJO message board members are a great source of tech info.
It's interesting to see the different types of vehicles such as Suzukis, Jeeps, Land Rovers, Toyotas, Chevys, Fords,
Dodges, Unimogs and hybrids attempting various obstacles. If there was ever a diverse group of people and vehicles,
this is it!
